Conversations

The-Conversation_3.jpg

I wanted to take a break from prepping images for print and share some images from my latest project Conversations. It was much more of an introspective project than my previous tableaux based work. This project was born from an interest in thought processes. I was primarily interested in involving conversation with my interest in in-between moments to achieve a portrait that functioned as an exploration into the nature of discussion, process, and finally portraiture itself. The subjects allowed for a fantastic investigation of both process and the physical manifestations of that process.

PROCESS

So, moving on to that process and some peeks into the shoot itself. I established a small outdoor portable studio.

Each image is paired with another of the same person creating a diptych. I mentioned earlier that I was in the midst of prepping these images for print. I am preparing for an exhibition and am ramping up to have each image presented as a diptych (as seen up top) with each image printed at three feet by two feet.. What that means is each image is down res-ed for printing as each scan gives me somewhere near a 70 megapixel image. It also allows for the viewer to explore the human face mid thought at a scale larger than human.

It is unfortunate that for most these images will be seen on a laptop screen as they open up to a degree that fundamentally alters the understanding of the work when they are seen in person.

Finally I will leave you with a couple more images and I'll get back to work. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the project.
